After yet another tragic death of yet another domain name (once again with it taking me a few days to realise what had happened), it was time to pull another collective title out of the hat and embark on a new journey. After a few days of freaking out over fanlisting deadlines, bartering with surpass hosting staff for file transfers (they are lovely people, really) glass-slipper.org was bought and paid for. The first two weeks or so were spent solely mucking around with databases and reinstalling Enthusiast so I could get my fanlistings back up before I started receiving angry emails and whispers of third-strike-removal's were mentioned.
After this was done it was time to start thinking about the collective itself. After constructing the layout the collective was officially (re)opened on the 13th of July 2009. That is the story of glass-slipper.org, and now, for another tale...
At about 13 years of age I was introduced to the wonder that was the WWW. By 14 I was so enchanted with this dynamic way to share data that I decided to endeavour to build a website myself. I started off on the web right and properly embarassing with the domain angelic-emotions.net. This was really my test period where I honed some skills in photoshop and tried my hand at making some pretty poor fansites. However I still put a tremendous amount of effort into each site and attempted to add personal details such as a writing and art site.
At some stage I hit a growth spurt and bought a new domain name: songstress.org. I revamped everything. It was the end of 'a good effort' and the start of 'a little bit of quality'. My graphic design skills were rapidly improving, and I made fansite upon fansite, closing and opening sites every time I changed my socks.
Sometime shortly after I bought a few other domains, most notably obscure.cc, which became my more personally focused domain and housed my artwork, writing and any other miscellaneous sites I wanted to open. At that stage Songstress.org took the backseat and became a purely anime, manga and gaming collective and hence had little in the way of growth.Eventually I could no longer dish out the money to renew a .CC name and I had to let it die. For a while none of my personal efforts were posted on the WWW and Songstress.org remained a simple anime and manga collective. I was busy with working a full time job, living on my own and trying to strike up a balance between my hobbies and what had to be done to survive. It was during this stage of negligence however that I started other interests and just generally grew a lot as a person.
When I finally had the opportunity to really start working on sites again I decided it was time for a change. I started using my own artwork on my main domain, opened a design portfolio, and renamed the network 'The Enchanted Network'. This name came from my great adoration of fantasy books, fairytales and folklore and I felt it was appropriate for what I wanted to do with the domain from then on.
The unexpected demise of songstress.org and apprehension of domain siansa.net only strengthened my resolve to broaden my network's spectrum. However first year university took me by surprise - I was working and socialising more than I ever thought I would. Having quieted down since then, and having renewed my passion for website building along with a more professional interest in design, glass-slipper.org is another catalyst for change within my online journey. Just wait to see what I've got. :]
